I had a bit of a scare recently. One of the cats chewed one of the moisture absorbers from a naan bread packet. Instead of the normal crystals this one was a dark brown.
I found out it contained iron powder...could be lethal!!!
So both cats were at the vets for observation for the day - I had to go to work. then I got a blood test for both just to make sure.
Turned out I was just being over paranoid, but worth letting your friends know that iron cannot be processed by cats, so if they get too much they will vomit initally, and even if they look ok may go into a coma 24 hours later...and die.
Good news is that my babies are both well. Their iron levels normal. They are as spoilt as ever!!! Have to light the fire for Clawed most nights now. He is not spoilt...just well loved!
Kasey licks a lot...but Clawed licks too. I think it's because they love me...but at 5am it's not so cute!!! Kirsty 19/5/06
