FANCY FACE:- Carried from page 24-- March, 2002 Fancy Face came in to my life not as a kitten but as a mature brown tortie Burmese. My family often reminisce about the day she travelled to our home from "Oramor" Burmese & Siamese Kittens in Maryborough. She was unimpressed - she didn't like the car, she didn't like the limitations of the cat cage, and quite frankly, she didn't look as if she much liked us either. This was my children - Ben, Anna and Christina's first pet, and they were intimidated by this tiger -like caged creature. Little did any of us know that in fact, on this day, had come into our lives a dear and faithful friend, who asked for so little, and gave so much in return. Fancy soon became Queen of our home and each member of the family competed for her affection. She had enough and more to go around us all. When there were no empty laps available her very favourite place to live was in the centre of the bay window, particularly basking in the warmth of the morning northern sun. She looked statuesque to all the passer bys who would be so surprised to see the figure come to life. Of course, there were lots of beds in the home that looked so much nicer when adorned with a sleeping beauty. Bed time was often declared by Fancy who would start pacing from lounge to bedrooms at what SHE considered was an appropriate time, awaiting the big moment when a family member would retire for the night. At this point the competition for her favours really escalated as sleep time was made so much more enjoyable with a mate to share childhood dreams. But children grow. They leave home. Animals stay and their loyalty becomes more intense. Now she was my princess, and mine alone. She considered my lap her property, my sleeping arms her blanket on cold - and not so cold Toowoomba nights. They say cats have 9 lives. Not Fancy. She used up her 9 lives many years ago, but it seemed to me that she was simply determined to stay where life was so good. She survived snake bites, cat fights, loss of teeth, diminished kidney function - even being locked in a cupboard for a week while injured, but as the song says "The Cat Came Back" and this song could have been written just for Fancy. Just as it seemed that this little girl was invincible, old age and thyroid issues took their toll. And then came the hard decision. Fancy, we loved you too much my darling to allow you to be tormented. You had given of yourself and now it was your turn to be comforted. I treasure the memory of the two precious days we spent before your departure. For all of this time I cuddled and caressed you while we said our goodbyes to each other. Two amazing days that will stay with me forever. You dined on prawns, chicken breast and pink salmon. We took beautiful photos of you on this day. Then a gentle goodbye. Thank you Fancy Face. May you sleep peacefully in your heaven. Your Loving Mum, Julie, 7th Jan, 09
Welcome Oramor Blossom--A new beginning
Hello Sue, I am sure you are anxious to know that Little Blossie declared herself "Queen of the Double Bed" last night and found it well - much to her liking. Settled back for a wonderful night of love and cuddling. She has had a lovely play this morning, after which she invited herself up to share my chair, my lap - tried out sitting on my head, and then decided my shoulder was THE preferred spot, where she proceeded to settle in for her morning nap. The baby is crying. Must go. Have a great day. Love you. Julie, Toowoomba, 9/3/08
Hello Sue, Report on Week 2 Now where will I start. I nearly had "Kitten on Toast" for the menu last night, when she managed in a flash, to delete all my icons, internet access, etc etc from my computer. Got that fixed by way of an emergency phone call to a computer guru who has been looking after me of late. However, we kissed, cuddled and made up overnight (she does that bit REALLY WELL) and so I found something else for dinner. But in the last 2 minutes I have just discovered that she has managed to unknot all the ribbons from the curtains in the bed-room, and the curtains are hanging to the floor. No damage done, except an hour or two's time to restore back to the original position. Cat pie might just be back on the menu. I cannot believe how she has grown. Boy, was she bunging on an act when she presented as this poor helpless little baby. There's nothing helpless about that little minx. However, it is just as well for her that I am rather into naughty little minxes - and love her just the same. Have a great weekend. Lots of Love, Julie 20/3/09 Continued page 81
